The recent reform of the Welfare Benefits system means that major changes started from the beginning of April 2013.
As most individuals are aware a number of changes will be introduced over the coming months. The reforms involve the scrapping of Council Tax Benefit, Community Care Grants and Crisis Loans with effect from April 2013. In June 2013 (April for pilot areas) Personal Independence Payments will replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for those aged 16 years plus. From October 2013 all means tested benefits and tax credits for individuals of working age will be replaced by a new Universal Credit. This information is applicable to the UK.
